Construction is sturdy "Box-in-Box" steel bridge. Thanks to the larger size of the box-shaped bridge, the distance between the linear guide blocks also increases, thus drastically reducing frame deformations and provide overall rigidity. The bridge is mover by a "gantry" system, consisting of a precision rack-and-pinon/gearbox system with mechanical preload for backlash recovery, driven by two brushless motors. Foldable thermoplastic bellows cover rack and linear guideways to protect from dust and swarf. Hornet Head on the HAWX "gantry" machining center is orthogonal head for 5 axis machining. This unique head structure features careful repositioning of "A" axis in an offset by 100mm (3.94") from the center of the RAM. This expands the machining area to process longer and wider parts. Both rotary axes are driven by digital brushless motors powering large cycloidal gearboxes, that are directly controlled by encoders.
